Downers Grove Real Estate
Relative to the other towns in Chicago's very near western suburbs, Downers Grove is large, small town. It's population is near 50,000. The feel of Downers Grove is two towns in one.
The northern section of town features large trees, both very old and very new custom homes and the "walk to" downtown and train lifestyle similar to the towns located east of Downers Grove. It's a yuppie neighborhood with the requisite Starbucks nearby. There is excellent train access (as in an amazingly large number of express trains into Chicago) and good access to I-355 and I-88 (a drivers' commute into the city).
The southern section of Downers Grove is more uniform as it's arranged in a traditional subdivision format. It features homes of semi-custom construction. There tends to be fewer and smaller trees in the south. There is good access to I-355, I-88 and the popular retail corridor located at the intersection of 75th Street and Lemont Road.
